Ernst Barlach is considered
to be one of the most important
representatives of modern art in
the 20th century. Having a par-
ticular style of his own, which en-
tirely relates to the human being, Barlach, with his enormous crea-
tive strength, formed a manyfold,
comprehensive, and important
artistic work comprising drawings,
graphics, sculptures, and litera-
ture.

With their collections, the Ernst
Barlach Gesellschaft in Wedel with
their museums in Ratzeburg and
Wedel, the Ernst Barlach Stiftung
in Güstrow, and the Ernst Barlach
Haus, Stiftung Hermann F. Reem-
tsma, in Hamburg, conserve, main-
tain, and exhibit the major work
selected from the artist's various
creative periods.

The activities of the museums,
which display Ernst Barlach's
work with outstanding exhibi-
tions both at home and abroad,
are promoted and supported in
many ways by the Lizenzver-
waltung.

The multi-talented artist's liter-
ary work is especially presented
in book publications and by pro-
ductions of theatres, radio, and
TV.

A wide variety of autobiograph-
ical texts and secondary litera-
ture, illustrated books, calendars,
and art postcards can be found in
the book market or in our book
shop. Many new editions have
been promoted and co-financed
by the Lizenzverwaltung.
